Discover the intriguing world of different places of worship like churches, mosques, temples, and gurdwaras through the exciting Bradford Faith Trail. This annual event, running throughout 2023 and concluding soon, offers a unique chance to explore the Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Roman Catholic, and Church of England faith buildings in Bradford. As the autumn approaches, the final 2023 dates in August, September, and October are open for booking, but don’t wait too long as the cut-off date for next month’s trail is Wednesday, 2nd August.

The Bradford Faith Trail unveils not only the architectural marvels of these places of worship but also provides insights into the respective faiths practised within them. Moreover, participants get a glimpse of how these religious spaces connect with Bradford’s local community culture and faith heritage. Five fascinating places of worship are included in the trail, and visitors can choose to explore as many as they desire. Expert guides will be present to lead the tours, answer questions, and enhance the experience for visitors. After each visit, attendees will be accompanied to the next venue.

Held on the first Saturday of the month from March to October, the Faith Trail can be comfortably covered on foot within a day. The journey commences at 10 am at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and concludes around 3:45 pm at Bradford Cathedral.

Due to limited availability, booking is essential for the Faith Trail. Interested individuals can secure their free place by reaching out to Maggie Myers at education@bradfordcathedral.org or by calling the Cathedral Office on 01274 77 77 20 between 9 am and 2:45 pm, Monday to Friday. Remember that the deadline for booking your place is the Wednesday before each Faith Trail date.

The trail commences at St. Peter’s RC Church at the top of Leeds Road, progresses down Leeds Road, with stops at the Abu Bakar Masjid, the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple, and the Guru Gobind Singh Ji Gurdwara, where a delightful vegetarian lunch awaits everyone. The journey culminates with a tour of Bradford Cathedral and a refreshing break. Don’t miss this enriching opportunity to explore the diverse religious landscape of Bradford through the Bradford Faith Trail.

Maggie Myers, Director of Education and Visitors at Bradford Cathedral, who co-ordinates the Faith Trail on behalf of all of the places of worship involved, says:

“The Bradford Faith Trail is a truly unique event and one that we encourage everybody in this area and beyond to experience.

“There are so many faith communities living side by side in this small area of Bradford and the Faith Trail offers the chance to look beyond the doors, to see what is inside, to meet members of the communities, to hear a little of what goes on, to ask questions and to spend a fascinating day with people of all faiths and none. “

The Bradford Cathedral Faith Trail will next take place on Saturday 5th August, Saturday 2nd September and Saturday 7th October, starting at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Leeds Road, at 10am. The Faith Trail will then return from March 2024.
