Footballers and staff from FC Halifax Town attended a special event on Wednesday 14th June at Halifax Town Hall to commemorate the club’s triumph in the FA Trophy.

The team emerged victorious against Gateshead in the FA Trophy Final, held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 21st May, and the local council and esteemed leaders desired to acknowledge this remarkable feat.

The Mayor of Calderdale, Cllr Ashley Evans, the Leader of Calderdale Council, Cllr Jane Scullion, and the Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Services and Communities, Cllr Jenny Lynn, warmly received representatives from the club at the Mayor’s Parlour for a drinks reception.

Players and officials from the club arrived with the trophy, and the Mayor and councillors delivered speeches highlighting the achievement and the pride it has instilled within the club and the surrounding communities.

Cllr Ashley Evans, the Mayor of Calderdale, expressed, “The FA Trophy victory was an extraordinary accomplishment, and it was heartening to witness such tremendous support for the club, with thousands of fans making the journey to Wembley. It was a genuine privilege to meet the team members, officials, and coaching staff and to catch a glimpse of the magnificent trophy.”

David Bosomworth, Chairman of FC Halifax Town, conveyed his gratitude, saying, “We extend our thanks to the Mayor and councillors for extending an invitation to our club for a reception in celebration of our triumph at Wembley. This was yet another immensely proud day for FC Halifax Town, having reached our second Wembley final in seven years. To have made it to Wembley once was a dream come true, but to do so a second time is truly beyond belief for everyone associated with the club and its fans. We trust that this not only provides wonderful exposure for the town and Calderdale as a whole but also serves as a great inspiration to all sports enthusiasts that success can be attained.”
