“Two Doors Down,” is set to welcome back a familiar face as Doon Mackichan confirms her return to the show. Mackichan will reprise her role as Cathy in the seventh series of the multi-award-winning comedy produced by BBC Studios. Excitingly, the show will also make its move to BBC One. Currently in production, the upcoming series consisting of six episodes is scheduled to air later this year.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Doon Mackichan stated, “I have missed the Two Doors Down family very much, so it’s a genuine delight to see Cathy bring her unique brand of community spirit back to Latimer Crescent. Beth – get a bottle open.” Mackichan’s portrayal of Cathy has endeared her to audiences, making her return a highly anticipated event.

Co-creators Gregor Sharp and Simon Carlyle shared their excitement, praising Mackichan as one of the UK’s finest comedic actors. They expressed their delight in having her pick up Cathy’s vape and rejoin the talented cast. The show’s Executive Producer, Steven Canny, added, “It’s a total pleasure to welcome Doon back to the family. We’ve been making Two Doors Down for a decade and couldn’t be happier that Cathy has come home again.”

In the previous series, viewers witnessed the heartbreak of Cathy’s husband, Colin, as she departed for a new life in Sharm El Sheikh. The neighbours rallied around him during his lowest moments, but the question remains: Will they be as quick to welcome back Cathy?

Returning alongside Mackichan, the stellar cast includes Jonathan Watson as Colin, Arabella Weir as Beth, Alex Norton as Eric, Elaine C Smith as Christine, Jamie Quinn as Ian, Kieran Hodgson as Gordon, Joy McAvoy as Michelle, and Graeme ‘Grado’ Stevely as Alan. Their collective talent has contributed to the show’s growing fan base, which has consistently expanded with each series. The most recent Christmas special garnered the highest audience to date, with 2.8 million viewers tuning in across all screens over a 30-day period. This marked the show’s most successful performance since its debut in 2013.
