Andy Last, the head coach of the Castleford Tigers, has finalised his 21-man squad for their upcoming match against the Salford Red Devils at The Jungle on Friday night. The squad announcement was made with pride by the team’s sponsor, GeoShield.
The Tigers are aiming to secure back-to-back victories following their remarkable win over the Leeds Rhinos during the Magic Weekend in Newcastle last weekend. The team showed tremendous skill and determination, and they will be looking to carry that momentum into their clash with the Red Devils.
Salford, too, had a successful outing in the north-east as they triumphed over the Hull KR in a thrilling contest that saw late tries from Ken Sio and Chris Atkin securing the win. This match against Castleford will be the second encounter between the two teams this season, with Paul Rowley’s men narrowly defeating the Tigers 14-6 back in April at the AJ Bell Stadium.
Ahead of the upcoming match, there have been four changes to the Castleford Tigers’ squad list from their previous game against the Rhinos. Young forward Aaron Willis is set to make his first appearance in the 21-man squad this season, bringing a fresh dynamic to the team. Additionally, Will Tate and Jacob Hookem are making their return to the pack, and Alex Sutcliffe is back from dual registration duty with Halifax Panthers.
However, there are some notable absences in the Tigers’ lineup for Friday’s fixture. Alex Mellor will be forced to sit out due to a head injury assessment failure he experienced late on during the match at St James’ Park. Liam Watts is also unavailable as he serves a suspension. Bureta Faraimo and Elliot Wallis, who were absent from the Tigers’ squad last week, will continue to be sidelined.
