Bradford City is thrilled to announce the acquisition of seasoned defender Ash Taylor on a two-year contract. The centre-back, having declined a fresh contract offer from Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock, will now join the ranks of Bradford City until the summer of 2025.

Taylor’s football journey commenced in Tranmere Rovers’ academy, where he honed his skills before going on to amass over 200 appearances for the Birkenhead outfit between 2009 and 2014. Following his time at Tranmere, Taylor had stints in both League One and League Two with Northampton Town. His career took an exciting turn with two separate spells in Scotland with Aberdeen, during which he nearly reached the milestone of 200 appearances and contributed to the team’s qualification for the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League.

For the past 18 months, the former Wales youth international plied his trade north of the border at Rugby Park, making 53 appearances and netting seven goals. Taylor expressed his delight at joining Bradford City, stating, “It feels brilliant to be joining the club. As soon as I first heard about the interest, I wanted to get it done, so I am delighted to be here.”

Taylor spoke highly of the club’s history and reputation, which drew him to the opportunity. He expressed his belief in the team’s potential, saying, “The potential is a lot higher than where we currently are, and I want to be part of the journey.” The experienced defender aims to utilize his expertise to drive the club forward, familiar with the high expectations that come with playing at Bradford City. He emphasized his commitment to meeting the required standards and setting an example for his fellow teammates.

Manager Mark Hughes expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating, “We are pleased to be welcoming Ash to the club as our second new signing of the summer.” Hughes praised Taylor’s extensive experience gained from playing in both England and Scotland, as well as his participation in the Europa League. He acknowledged Taylor’s defensive prowess and goal-scoring abilities, highlighting his valuable leadership qualities.

The entire Bradford City community extends a warm welcome to Ash Taylor and eagerly anticipates witnessing his contributions on the field in the upcoming season.
