Bradford City has delighted fans with the announcement that three promising academy graduates, Bobby Pointon, Dylan Youmbi, and Harvey Rowe, have inked fresh one-year contracts. These deals ensure their presence at the revered University of Bradford Stadium until the conclusion of the upcoming 2023/24 season.
As they enter their second year as professionals, the trio, all 19 years old, are set to become integral members of Mark Hughes’ first-team squad for the forthcoming campaign. The players expressed their elation at signing the contracts and their commitment to the club.
Midfielder Bobby Pointon, visibly elated, said, “I am buzzing – this is what I have worked for all my life, and to have it at this club is special. I have been coming here as a fan since I was five years old, so it is a dream come true for me.”
Pointon, who showcased his skills at Brighouse Town last season with three goals in four games, emphasised his desire to excel in the team. He added, “I know the gaffer likes the simple things mastered, so if I can keep doing that and showing what I am about, hopefully, it will help me.”
Striker Dylan Youmbi, filled with gratitude, expressed his happiness at the opportunity, stating, “I am very happy and grateful for the opportunity. I am a striker who likes to score goals. I make the most of close-range chances but know that any goal counts.”
Youmbi, who gained valuable experience during his loan spells, aims to contribute to the team’s success and secure more playing time. He remarked, “My spells on loan have helped me a lot, and opened my eyes as to what senior football is about. Hopefully, I can work on experiencing more of that.”
Defender Harvey Rowe, appreciative of the opportunity given to him, acknowledged the motivating role of the stadium and the passionate supporters. Rowe stated, “I look around this stadium now, and when I look back to near-enough every home game last season, the stadium and the supporters who come act as motivation for all of us.”
Rowe, who learned valuable lessons during his loan spells, aspires to impress during pre-season and continue his hard work. He commented, “I want to play some minutes in pre-season and play as well as I can, and just keep working hard from there.”
