A member of West Yorkshire Police’s Regional Scientific Support Services, Matthew Oxby, 48, is set to face charges of sexual assault against a female.
The accused is scheduled to appear before Leeds Magistrates Court on Thursday, 18 May, where the case will be heard.
The alleged incident, which forms the basis of the charge, occurred off-duty in Wakefield city centre in December 2022.
Mr. Oxby has been suspended from his duties pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
Authorities have been actively investigating the case, and as a result, the decision to bring charges against the staff member was made.
The allegations of sexual assault have cast a spotlight on the importance of addressing such matters rigorously to maintain public trust and uphold the values of the police force.
