Sky and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) have announced a multi-year extension of their partnership, ensuring that Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment customers in the UK and Ireland will have access to major Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) feature films and popular SPT television series.

Under this agreement, Sky Cinema customers will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of highly anticipated films, including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Gran Turismo, Equalizer 3, the next Ghostbusters installment, and upcoming films from the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters, such as Kraven the Hunter, El Muerto, and Madame Web. Additionally, recent hits like the popular Whitney Houston biopic Whitney: I Wanna Dance With Somebody and A Man Called Otto starring Tom Hanks will be available.

Sky Cinema customers will also retain access to a wide selection of popular films from the SPE catalogue, encompassing franchises such as Spider-Man, Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Men In Black, Bad Boys, and Karate Kid. On the other hand, Sky Entertainment customers can look forward to future seasons of hit series like The Good Doctor and S.W.A.T.

Sony Pictures’ film and television content have consistently garnered significant popularity among Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment viewers. Spider-Man: No Way Home, for instance, has already amassed over 3 million views in less than a year. With this new deal, customers will gain access to over 600 hours of iconic Sony Pictures content.

In addition to the film and television offerings, the extended partnership allows Sky Store customers to purchase or rent popular titles from the Sony Pictures library. The deal also encompasses live and on-demand content for Sky’s streaming service, NOW.

Expressing his satisfaction with the agreement, Stephen van Rooyen, Chief Executive Officer, UK & Europe, Sky, stated, “Our customers love Sony’s film and television content, and with this extension, they will continue to enjoy it for years to come. Content is king, and our strong partnerships provide our customers with access to 100,000 hours of world-class content that can be streamed directly to their TVs over Wi-Fi, allowing them to watch it on their terms.”

Mark Young, Executive Vice President, Networks & Distribution, EMEA, Sony Pictures Television, also expressed enthusiasm, highlighting the strong partnership between the two companies and the continued availability of Sony Pictures’ top-quality content for audiences in the UK and Ireland. Young emphasised that despite the increasing competitiveness of the media landscape, the demand for excellent content and its connection with audiences remains unchanged.
