Police are appealing for witnesses following a harrowing incident on the M1 Northbound carriageway that resulted in a serious injury collision.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:18 am on Sunday, 28 May, when a silver Toyota Rav4 veered off the carriageway, crashing into trees along the nearside grass embankment near Woolley Edge services.

The vehicle’s driver, a 23-year-old man who was the sole occupant, suffered severe injuries in the crash. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals described his condition as critical but stable.
