Police are urging individuals who witnessed a tragic road traffic collision on the A1, resulting in the death of a motorist, to come forward with any information that may aid their investigation.

The incident occurred shortly after 6:10 pm last Saturday (13/5) and involved a black Audi A3 and a Man heavy goods vehicle. The collision transpired on the northbound A1, near junction 41 (Ferrybridge), when the Audi collided with the rear of the other vehicle.

Tragically, the 19-year-old female driver of the Audi succumbed to her injuries. Three other passengers in the Audi suffered minor injuries as a consequence of the collision. The driver of the heavy goods vehicle was apprehended on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. However, they have since been released on bail while further inquiries are conducted.
