Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance as they investigate a tragic road traffic collision that claimed the life of a young driver in Barkisland.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:00pm on Saturday, the 13th of May, when a black Vauxhall Corsa collided with a stationary horsebox on Saddleworth Road, near the Post Office Buildings.
Tragically, the 20-year-old male driver of the Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving the community in shock and mourning. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Preliminary inquiries conducted by West Yorkshire Police suggest that the Corsa was part of a convoy, travelling alongside two other vehicles at the time of the collision.
Following thorough investigations, three males have been apprehended on suspicion of dangerous driving linked to the tragic incident.
In their pursuit of justice, the Major Road Collision Enquiry Team is urging any witnesses who saw the collision or have any information about the events leading up to it to come forward.
Additionally, the authorities are keen to hear from individuals who may possess footage that could prove vital to the ongoing investigation.
