A captivating new temporary community garden has emerged in close proximity to the old Westgate station in Wakefield.

Nestled at Pemberton House, this green haven offers a shared space for the entire community to relish, whether engaging in gardening activities or simply unwinding amidst a surprising oasis amidst the bustling city centre.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, the Leader of Wakefield Council, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We look forward to witnessing people embrace this garden throughout the next 12 months. This initiative aims to unite individuals, enabling them to experience the rewards of community engagement and the joys of the great outdoors.”

The garden showcases raised beds meticulously crafted from reclaimed and repurposed materials, providing community groups, residents, and workers with the perfect opportunity to cultivate an array of vegetables, fruits, and flowers throughout 2023. Moreover, gardening courses will be conducted by Art House staff in the upcoming months, catering to individuals keen on acquiring valuable skills in cultivation.
