ITVX has recently released a captivating array of first-look images for “The Winter King,” a groundbreaking television series that presents a fresh and audacious interpretation of the beloved Arthurian legends. Inspired by Bernard Cornwell’s highly acclaimed Warlord Chronicles series, this eagerly anticipated drama promises to captivate audiences with its unique approach.

Commissioned for ITVX by Polly Hill, the Head of Drama at ITV, “The Winter King” is a production of Bad Wolf, a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Television. The series, which was filmed in Wales and the West Country, is scheduled to premiere on ITVX later this year.

With Otto Bathurst, renowned for his work on “Peaky Blinders” and “His Dark Materials,” serving as the lead director and executive producer, and Toby Leslie joining as an executive producer, the creative team is poised to deliver a remarkable viewing experience.

The role of Arthur Pendragon will be portrayed by Iain De Caestecker, known for his work in “The Control Room” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Eddie Marsan, recognised for his performances in “The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe” and “Deceit,” takes on the role of High King Uther, while Ellie James, Nathaniel Martello-White, Stuart Campbell, and Daniel Ings, among others, contribute to the stellar ensemble cast.

With an esteemed ensemble cast and a narrative crafted by talented writers, including Kate Brooke and Ed Whitmore, who also serve as executive producers, “The Winter King” promises to be a remarkable exploration of Arthurian legends.
