Huddersfield Giants have announced the exciting acquisition of Adam Milner from Castleford Tigers on a season-long loan, sparking delight among the club and its fans. Milner, who has played for Castleford Tigers throughout his illustrious 13-year career, joins the Giants in a move that adds further depth and versatility to the team.
Primarily known for his exceptional skills as a Hooker or Loose Forward, Milner brings valuable utility value to the Giants’ already experienced squad. Having played over 290 games for the Tigers, this transfer represents a significant change for the player, who is eager to embrace a new club, a different environment, and a fresh challenge.
Interestingly, Milner made his Betfred Super League debut against Huddersfield Giants back in 2010, and now he finds himself joining forces with Ian Watson’s men for the remainder of the season. Following the loan period, Milner will sign a one-year deal with the club, keeping him with the Giants until the end of 2024, with an option for 2025.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Adam Milner commented on his decision to join the Giants, acknowledging the appeal of working under the guidance of coach Ian Watson.
“I can’t wait to get going. I think I’m at a stage in my career where a new club, different environment, and fresh challenge were needed, and hopefully, this can bring the best out of me. Ian Watson is a great coach, and what he and his teams have done and achieved in the past appealed to me,” said Milner.
“Having been at Castleford for my entire career, I feel like I have achieved almost everything possible at the club. When an ambitious club like the Giants, who are striving to be a top 4 club, come knocking, I want to be part of that,” he added.
Milner emphasised his dedication to hard work and the importance of excelling in every aspect of the game. With his experience, he looks forward to working alongside the younger players in the team, hoping to contribute to the success of the Giants.
“Ultimately, I want to come here and win something. I strongly believe that Huddersfield is a club that can do that,” concluded Milner.
Ian Watson, head coach of the Huddersfield Giants, praised the signing of Adam Milner, emphasising his utility and positive impact on the team’s future.
“The key thing to know about him is the way he plays the game. He’s very energetic, very competitive, and plays with that level of enthusiasm, and that’s what we need,” commented Watson.
“We need that bigger body defensively and someone who is going to work as hard as he works week in, week out. He’s done it for years, and he reached the international level by doing just that. So, we want him to come here and be himself, play that way, and add that energy and drive to compete. He’ll be a great asset to us going forward,” Watson added.
With the arrival of Adam Milner, Huddersfield Giants are eager to strengthen their squad and make a mark in the upcoming challenges of the Betfred Super League. The addition of Milner’s skills and experience bodes well for the team’s aspirations to achieve top-tier success and elevate the club to new heights.
