Budding Picassos from all corners of Morley have a unique opportunity to showcase their artistic talents alongside the renowned Leeds mural artist, The Cortisol Kid. The much-anticipated ‘Art in the Park’ event will take place at Hembrigg Park, offering participants a chance to contribute to a new masterpiece.
Scheduled for Thursday, June 1, during the half-term week, the free event will run from 11 am to 3 pm. It aims to commemorate the successful completion of the initial project financed by the Morley Town Deal.
Hembrigg Park has undergone a remarkable transformation as part of this venture. Notable enhancements include the introduction of a state-of-the-art children’s play area and an outdoor adult gym, providing recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. Additionally, the park has been equipped with new seating areas and litter bins, ensuring a cleaner and more welcoming environment for visitors. Furthermore, new fencing has been installed to enhance safety and security. To add a touch of natural beauty, trees and flowers have been thoughtfully planted throughout the park.
This project marks only the beginning of a series of improvements that will be carried out by the Morley Town Deal in collaboration with Leeds City Council over the next three years. Thanks to a generous £24.3 million government Towns Fund grant, the town of Morley is poised for a transformative period of growth and development.
The ‘Art in the Park’ event promises to be a memorable occasion, where local residents can engage in artistic expression and witness the collaborative efforts of budding artists and The Cortisol Kid. Whether you’re an aspiring painter or simply appreciate the beauty of art, be sure to mark your calendars and join the festivities at Hembrigg Park on June 1.
