In an exciting announcement, it has been confirmed that BAFTA-nominated comedian, writer, and actor Rose Matafeo, along with critically-acclaimed writer and performer Mike Wozniak, will be the hosts and stars of Channel 4’s upcoming children-focused entertainment program, ‘Junior Taskmaster.’ This new show has been commissioned as a result of the incredible success of the ratings and critically acclaimed series ‘Taskmaster.’

Rose Matafeo will take on the role of the formidable Junior Taskmaster, overseeing the efforts of five courageous junior contestants. These young participants will engage in a series of delightfully bizarre challenges designed to inspire creativity, wit, athleticism, and resourcefulness. Meanwhile, Mike Wozniak will diligently record statistics, take notes, and efficiently manage each task. This captivating show aims to recognise genius at any age.

Expressing her excitement, Rose Matafeo, The Junior Taskmaster, said, “Being appointed as the Junior Taskmaster is one of the greatest honours in my already wildly successful career. I’m eagerly looking forward to the power going to my head.”

Echoing the sentiment, Mike Wozniak, The Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant, exclaimed, “All I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a Little Alex Horne (or a regional manager for a major provider of motorway service stations), so this is literally a dream come true. I hereby vow to fulfil the role of the Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant with the same courage, grit, and dignity as the original Little Alex Horne.”

With its broad multi-generational appeal, ‘Taskmaster’ has already garnered a substantial following. In terms of profile, it was Channel 4’s youngest-skewing series last year. Moreover, it ranks among the top three programs in the coveted 9 pm time slot for young viewers (16-34), alongside ‘Gogglebox’ and ‘Derry Girls.’ Additionally, ‘Taskmaster’ enjoys significant popularity on Channel 4’s streaming service, where it is available for free. Notably, the average views per episode [0-7 Days, O+O] have increased with each series since 2021.

‘Junior Taskmaster’ is produced by Avalon, with Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, Andy Cartwright, Andy Devonshire, Alex Horne, James Taylor, and Jon Thoday serving as executive producers. Mia Cross takes on the role of Series Producer. The show has been commissioned for Channel 4 by Tom Beck, Head of Live Events and Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, along with Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment and Events.
