Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, the acclaimed TV show, will be taking a break after its 20th series, according to an announcement made today. The popular program, which has received multiple BAFTA Awards, previously took a hiatus in 2009 and returned in 2013.

Ant and Dec, known for their exclusive collaboration with ITV, will continue hosting other successful shows such as I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Britain’s Got Talent, and Limitless Win. These shows are broadcasted on ITV1 and ITVX.

Ant expressed their fondness for Saturday Night Takeaway, but also mentioned that after completing 20 series, it felt like the ideal time to take a breather. Dec added that they are eagerly looking forward to the momentous 20th series and promised to make it memorable before the hiatus in 2024.

Produced by Lifted Entertainment (a division of ITV Studios) and Mitre Studios, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway will return next year for its 20th season. The show has become renowned for its iconic segments, including Win the Ads, Undercover, Get Out Of Me Ear, The End of Show Show, and the Happiest Minute of the Week.

The most recent series debuted in February, attracting a staggering overnight audience of 6.4 million viewers on ITV1, making it the network’s highest-rated entertainment program of the year.

Since its launch in 2002, the show’s combination of live, energetic, and feel-good entertainment has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including BAFTA and National Television Awards.

Kevin Lygo, the Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment division, acknowledged the show’s cultural impact, stating that Saturday Night Takeaway has become synonymous with Saturday night television.
