A serving West Yorkshire Police officer is due in court after being charged with an assault while on duty.

Police Constable Simon Hartley, 38 who works in the Bradford District has been charged with Common Assault.

He is due at Leeds Magistrates on 24 March.

The charges relate to an incident that happened while he was on duty at Queens Road on 6 October.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said; “PC Hartley has been suspended.”
